A leading water management company in the East Midlands seeks a Senior Asset Engineer to lead investigations and manage a wastewater network project. Ideal candidates will have significant experience in wastewater networks and proven problem-solving skills. This role offers various benefits, including a generous holiday allowance and a competitive bonus scheme.
Want to solve one of the biggest environmental challenges in the water industry? Play a leading role in protecting our rivers and communities by tackling infiltration at its source. Our people make Severn Trent a truly exciting and inclusive place to work – a place where you can be yourself and let your engineering skills shine.
Our purpose is taking care of life’s essentials, but we’re also big on making a difference, not just because we should but because we care. We are launching a landmark, multi-million-pound programme to transform how we manage our wastewater network, with a major focus on tackling groundwater infiltration.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Asset Engineer to join our team and become the technical authority on our Infiltration Programme. You will be a lead detective, at the heart of the action, shaping our approach to investigation and diagnosis. This role can be based from Coventry, Derby or Leicester.
Are you a passionate engineer who thrives on complex problem-solving and wants to leave a lasting legacy on our network? If you are driven to turn high-level strategy into on-the-ground engineering solutions, we want to hear from you!
We’re looking for a strong technical background in wastewater networks, including assets, systems, hydraulics, asset performance, and failure modes. You should have proven experience in asset management, technical investigation, or operational problem-solving, with a track record of diagnosing complex issues. A highly analytical and methodical approach is essential, with ability to interpret data sources such as flow data, CCTV surveys, and network maps to support informed decision-making.
Excellent communication skills are key, as you will need to clearly explain complex technical challenges and solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. A proactive and solution-oriented mindset is valued, especially someone passionate about driving environmental improvements and delivering meaningful outcomes.
You’ll have experience in civil engineering, environmental science, or related fields such as hydraulic modelling or wastewater engineering. Familiarity with project management principles and developing business cases for asset interventions is essential. Chartership with a relevant institution (e.g. CIWEM, ICE, IAM) or working towards it would be an advantage.
Working here isn’t just a job. You can build a career at Severn Trent. We’ll reward you for it, with a range of benefits that recognise great work and award-winning training. We’ll also help you play your part in looking after the environment and the communities where we live.
