Senior Technical Professional Leader - Electrical

Role Overview

As part of the electrical engineering team you will be involved in the design specification and services relating to Electrical engineering for projects relating to energy transition. This may be a conceptual study or front-end engineering design (FEED) or an EPC / detailed design execution involving the procurement of all equipment and detailed drawings for the construction and commissioning of an entire facility. You will be involved in projects from which may be offshore or onshore - greenfield or brownfield refining hydrogen renewables etc. There will be a focus within the design on cost schedule safety reliability and quality at all stages of the projects. In this role you will be assigned as Overall discipline lead engineer or deputy discipline lead engineer depending on the size of the project.

Responsibilities
  • You will be expected to lead large teams which might be distributed geographically between other offices of KBR or partner companies.
  • You will be responsible for study design specification and services related to electrical systems including power generation transmission and distribution power systems performance and control switchgear earthing systems lightning protection systems heat tracing etc depending on the project phase.
  • You will be expected to guide your team to deliver technically accurate deliverables on schedule and managing the manhour budget allocated to the discipline for the project.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the effective interaction with others. Expected to be highly competent in written and spoken communication and be able to use a range of standard software such as MS Word and MS Excel to prepare technical documents and to write technical reports.
  • Responsible for the electrical distribution system design specification selection vendor drawing reviews and testing services relating to energy transition.
  • You will use your judgment in making selections and adaptation of engineering alternatives. You will be asked to perform specific and well-defined assignments. You will be asked to attend meetings write reports and giving presentations on the work you are completing.
  • You will perform assignments with minimal supervision using your knowledge of engineering principles. You will be responsible for checking your own and others work within the team and approving deliverables for issue.
  • Detailed knowledge of electrical equipment is essential as is a good working knowledge of industry standards for electrical equipment. Ability to design identify and specify a wide range of electrical equipment including Switchgear (HV / MV and LV) UPS Systems Power Management Systems Generator Control Systems Lighting and Small Power Systems and associated Distribution Equipment.
  • You will be working in a multi-disciplinary project team which is likely to include engineers from other specialisms including mechanical structural civil and instrumentation and will be responsible for liaising with clients and contractors as required. Expected to be fully aware of inter discipline coordination requirements and data / information flow to facilitate on schedule document issue. Be proactive in follow up to ensure the inputs (both from other disciplines and suppliers) required by your team to develop respective deliverables are made available to the team in time.
  • The required competency and skills would typically have been built up working for a consultant engineering company equipment fabricator or end user company. The successful candidate would be expected to have a varied and extensive experience of electrical equipment applications in the Energy Transition and Energy Security project environments to include concept front end engineering design detailed design commissioning and operations.
Support Tasks

  • Development of tools and work methods to improve project delivery productivity
  • Conduct audit / cold eye review of other projects based on KBR audit norms
