The Wellcome Sanger Institute is seeking a Senior Technical Assistant to join its Science Support Services team. This multidisciplinary role involves managing laboratory waste, producing sterile media, and supporting various lab operations. The ideal candidate will have a background in laboratory work, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

A new opportunity to join our team as a Senior Technical Assistant. This role is multidisciplinary, involving the processing and correct disposal of laboratory waste on site according to local guidelines. Additionally, the role will assist in providing media services to meet the institute's needs, primarily for prokaryotic media, but also other media and buffers. The role also includes assisting in the processing and sterilization of laboratory glassware.

We seek an individual eager to move into a busy and varied Science Support Services Technician role. Supporting multiple buildings across a campus, we need a motivated person with the confidence to work well both within a team and independently. Good organizational skills and the ability to manage your own time to maintain service levels are essential.
Practical experience in a media production role is desirable. You should be a good communicator, organized, flexible, and willing to learn or develop new skills.
About Us:
The Technical Science Support Team provides practical support for research and administrative teams across the Wellcome Genome Campus. Our small team covers duties such as laboratory waste collection and sterilization, media and consumables preparation, laundering laboratory coats, and maintaining cryogenic storage vessels.
