Job description

Due to recent business growth, our Commercial Consultancy and Strategy team are looking for an experienced Senior Surveyor or Associate to join its dynamic national team. Based in Oxford, the particular focus of this role is the healthcare sector – providing advice across varied operational estates and often engaging with senior client personnel. The work will include a variety of valuation work including annual asset valuations for accounts purposes, as well as landlord & tenant, rent review, acquisition, and other professional services. In addition to this core work, you will be engaged in supporting the provision of strategic property advice, not only to the healthcare sector, but also other client groups including various public sector organisations, charities, museums and private sector corporate occupiers and landowners.

This role would suit a qualified surveyor with demonstrable valuation and professional experience who is keen to work with one of the leading healthcare sector surveyors in the industry and build relationships within a high-profile client base to enhance their own experience and reputation. Valuation work makes up around half the role, requiring an individual who will embrace the demands of public sector reporting and audit activity.

We offer a highly competitive salary package, with flexible benefits allowing you to choose those that suit your personal circumstances, including purchasing additional leave, health cash plans, cycle to work scheme and others. In addition, we welcome applications from those seeking flexible or agile working arrangements, and these can be discussed at the application stage.

Main tasks:

The key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Managing a variety of client instructions and delivering high-quality, professional advice.
  • Delivering valuation advice for a range of purposes, including RICS Red Book and financial reporting.
  • Collaborating with senior client representatives and their auditors to ensure valuations are robust and accurate.
  • Conducting acquisitions, disposals, rent reviews and landlord and tenant work for NHS Trusts.
  • Supporting business development through identifying target NHS Trusts and other organisations and participation in client presentations and bid processes.
  • Engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders, including clients, valuers, and auditors.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of new processes, leveraging technology and data insights.
  • Quickly becoming an intrinsic member of the Consultancy & Strategy team, working on a variety of instructions, and making a positive contribution to the growth of the team.

This job description is not exhaustive, and the jobholder may be required to undertake additional duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the team and office.

What will it take to be successful?

You will be a MRICS Chartered Surveyor and ideally a Registered Valuer with good experience or demonstrable interest in the public sector and a high degree of proficiency with Excel. This role requires you to have a business development orientated attitude, with a key focus on providing excellent customer service and willingness to travel throughout England to client sites and other Carter Jonas offices. We are also looking for you to have the ability to drive business initiatives forward in a confident and personable manner whilst maintaining and establishing relationships. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and a driving licence are essential.
