A local government authority in Chesterfield is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to support the corporate property team. The role involves overseeing the maintenance of commercial properties and ensuring structural soundness in both commercial and residential settings. Ideal candidates should have extensive experience and excellent communication skills. This is a full-time, permanent position located at the Town Hall.

Candidates must possess the necessary right to work authorisation to enable them to work for Chesterfield Borough Council. Regrettably, we are unable to provide sponsorship or assume sponsorship of an employment visa at this juncture.
As the senior structural engineer, you will principally support the corporate property team in delivering an excellent structural maintenance service, as well as develop, deliver, and oversee repairs and maintenance of the council’s commercial property portfolio. On occasion there will also be the opportunity to support colleagues in the residential team to ensure housing stock is structurally sound.
Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that our commercial facilities are well maintained and operate at their optimum capacity.
This is a diverse role in a busy team and the applicant will need to have significant and broad experience of managing structural issues and requests for reporting, organising inspection schedules and following up actions, repairs and planned maintenance.
Significant structural engineering experience in commercial and residential property.
Proven track record in working on commercial and residential property in a senior structural engineer role.
You will need to be a driven self-starter, able to organise your own workload, and have excellent communication skills with customers and within the team.
