Job description
Senior Software Validation & Verification Engineer

Location: Canterbury, Kent

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Are you passionate about building robust testing environments that ensure high-quality, reliable software and firmware? This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of software validation and verification processes across complex, multi-disciplinary engineering projects.

You will work closely with mechanical, electronic, and systems engineers to shape best practice, drive continuous improvement, and support new product development from early design through to delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and document validation and verification processes for new and modified software/firmware
  • Build and maintain a structured test environment to support agile development
  • Participate in team stand-ups, planning sessions, reviews, and retrospectives
  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues and support ongoing and future projects
  • Maintain clear documentation and operate in line with internal quality procedures (ISO 9001:2015)
  • Support internal and external customers with troubleshooting software-related issues
  • Assist in internal audits when required
  • Undertake occasional customer or supplier visits (driving licence & passport required)
Required Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience leading software/firmware validation projects
  • Strong background in software design, development, and testing
  • Hands‑on experience with C, C++, C#, .NET and LabVIEW
  • Experience testing safety‑critical software or systems
  • Full software lifecycle understanding, including revision control and structured methodology
  • Experience within agile teams (Scrum or similar)
Advantageous
  • Understanding of electronics to the level of schematic review
  • Exposure to embedded software
  • Knowledge of cross‑platform (Android) app development
  • Experience with electro‑mechanical products
Qualifications
  • A degree in Computer Science or a related field is preferred
