Job description
Overview

The Women’s Estate Psychology Service (WEPS) carries out core forensic work, including risk assessment and individual psychological interventions, as well as broader safety‑related work within women’s prisons and during transition back into the community. The successful candidate will be the central point of contact for WEPS at the site, supporting the local Senior Management Team and maintaining relationships with senior managers and leaders across the HMPSS. They will join a high‑skill, motivated team and engage in a range of activities to support forensic work at HMP Low Newton.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the central liaison between WEPS and local senior management.
  • Coordinate with other ELPs, WEPS senior managers and leaders to ensure business needs and priorities are met.
  • Represent and uphold the values of WEPS and PSG.
  • Support the delivery of forensic work by providing risk assessment, individual interventions and safety‑related activities.
  • Participate in recruitment processes by demonstrating required behaviours (Making Effective Decisions, Communicating and Influencing, Working Together, Developing Self and Others, Managing a Quality Service).
Qualifications and Experience
  • HCPC registered Forensic Psychologist.
  • Professional background in Psychology.
  • Two years post‑registration experience at the time of appointment.
  • Experience in providing clinical supervision.
  • Completed relevant training in effective models of treatment and best practice.
  • Probable Chartered Psychologist and full member of the appropriate division of the BPS if required.
  • Languages spoken and written: English.
Additional Requirements
  • Successful candidates must undergo a criminal record check and baseline personnel security standard checks.
  • Nationality: UK nationals, nationals of the Republic of Ireland, Commonwealth nationals with right to work in the UK, EU/Schengen nationals with settled or pre‑settled status, Turkish nationals and certain family members, individuals with limited or indefinite leave to remain eligible for EUSS.
