Senior Quantity Surveyor - Major Projects

Location: Warrington

Salary: £70,000 to £75,000 + Package

Overview

Our client is a leading Tier 1 main contractor delivering complex and large-scale projects across the UK. They work across sectors including education, healthcare, industrial, and custodial, with a focus on quality, safety, and innovation. The opportunity involves major projects valued at £10 million and above, with responsibility for all commercial aspects from pre-construction through to final account.

What you will be responsible for

• Overseeing all commercial functions on allocated projects, ensuring profitability and achievement of financial targets.
• Preparing cost forecasts, budgets, cash flows, and accurate financial reporting.
• Managing procurement, tendering, and subcontractor packages.
• Administering contracts, variations, and claims in accordance with NEC and JCT forms.
• Providing commercial leadership and support to project teams and senior management.
• Building strong working relationships with clients, stakeholders, and supply chain partners.
• Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team.

What you will need to succeed

• Demonstrable experience as a Senior QS working for a Tier 1 main contractor.
• Proven background delivering projects across education, healthcare, industrial, and custodial sectors.
• Experience on schemes valued £10m+.
• Excellent knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities.
• Confident communicator with strong client-facing skills.
• Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent), ideally chartered or working towards RICS accreditation.
