Are you a commercially sharp, detail-driven Quantity Surveyor ready to take a lead role in delivering major capital programmes?

Croydon Council is looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join its Housing - Assets & Repairs division. This is an opportunity to apply your expertise to a varied portfolio of construction, refurbishment and major works projects that directly improve homes and communities across the borough.

Working within the Capital Delivery Team, . You'll provide expert commercial support across a £42m capital programme, ensuring value for money, accurate cost control and robust contract management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review contractor quotations, tenders and commercial submissions, ensuring accuracy and value for money
  • Prepare pre-tender estimates, tender reports, contract sum analyses and support value engineering activities
  • Oversee contract administration including variations, payment applications and compliance with relevant schedules of rates
  • Monitor project spend, prepare cost reports, forecasts and cashflows, and support governance reporting
  • Provide cost advice to officers across the service and act as a key client-side commercial contact
  • Lead the coordination and quality assurance of external cost consultants
  • Support leaseholder processes by preparing Heads of Cost for Section 20 notices and reconciling final accounts
What You'll Need
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying (or similar) and RICS membership
  • Strong understanding of construction costs, procurement and public-sector project delivery
  • Excellent commercial and financial skills, including budgeting, forecasting and contract analysis
  • Ability to interpret specifications, drawings and schedules of rates
  • Confident communicator able to work effectively with contractors, consultants and internal stakeholders
  • Experience delivering medium to large projects in either the public or private sector
