Job description
Overview

We are currently recruiting for a Senior QS/Commercial Manager with Highways and Civils Experience to work across the South East. You will be working for a first tier contractor that operates throughout the UK providing Highways and Civils related services.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the financial framework of the contract with responsibility for cost control, producing work orders, procurement, sub contractors, interim accounts, producing final accounts and allocating revenue.
  • Producing and providing accurate forecasts of project cost to completion and final value.
  • Team management and mentoring junior members of staff, along with providing advice and guidance to other members of the team as required.
  • Management and maintenance of the contract, updating the cost reporting system, ensuring all financial information is recorded and tracked with budget & tender allowances, commitments and deviations.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Sound working knowledge of construction and contract law and various forms of Conditions of Contracts
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of tendering and procurement process
  • Strong working knowledge of construction techniques including project management
  • You will have the ability to apply the knowledge and principles of commercial management to a highways business
  • Working knowledge of plant, equipment and materials
  • Conversant with NEC forms of contract
  • Experience of negotiating with subcontractors and supply chain partners
  • General civil engineering and surfacing practices
