Company Overview

I am recruiting for a Senior NEC Project Manager to support the delivery of a major reservoir scheme in the Portsmouth region. This is a high-profile, nationally significant water infrastructure project and a rare opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of a major asset outside of standard AMP-cycle pipeline works.

The Role

As Senior NEC Project Manager, you will be responsible for the delivery of a circa £400m package of works covering the Season 2 main earthworks and engineering package for the reservoir. Over the initial 6-month period, you will oversee construction delivery while also managing the interface with design and MEICA works associated with the treatment plant and pumping station.

This role will suit an experienced NEC Project Manager with strong contract administration, change management, and target cost experience, particularly under NEC Option C arrangements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the delivery of the Season 2 main earthworks and engineering package for the reservoir works.
  • Manage a £400m construction package, ensuring delivery to programme, cost, and quality.
  • Oversee and administer NEC contracts, with specific responsibility for Clause 32 early warnings and compensation events.
  • Review, administer, and manage change control and target cost mechanisms.
  • Oversee design development and MEICA interfaces for the treatment plant and pumping station.
  • Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with contractual, commercial, and safety obligations.
  • Produce monthly progress reports, forecasts, and governance approval documentation.
  • Work closely with internal teams, consultants, and contractors to resolve delivery and commercial challenges.
  • Ensure all works align with the Client's Health & Safety Management Plan and regulatory requirements.
Key Requirements
  • Degree-qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Significant experience delivering major civil engineering or water infrastructure projects.
  • Strong background in reservoir works, major earthworks, or large-scale infrastructure packages.
  • Proven NEC contract management experience, ideally Option C target cost.
  • Strong understanding of NEC Clause 32, compensation events, and change management processes.
  • Commercially astute, with experience managing large budgets and risk profiles.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
