Job Title: Senior Process Engineer

Location: Brighton (Hybrid working with occasional site visits)

Salary: £55,000 - £60,000, depending on experience

Role summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Process Engineer to join a well-established wastewater process engineering team. This role offers a chance to contribute to a variety of wastewater treatment projects and support site operations within a collaborative and technically driven environment.

Responsibilities
  • As part of a multi-skilled team, you will play a key role in producing technical design deliverables, such as process calculations, control philosophies, process flow diagrams, process and performance specifications, P&IDs, and commissioning and compliance plans. You will take the lead on developing innovative process solutions that drive efficiency and deliver cost-effective outcomes.
  • In support of site operations, your responsibilities will include performance optimisation, commissioning support, troubleshooting, and the implementation of improvement measures across wastewater treatment plants.
  • This position requires a strong track record in wastewater process design, with a good understanding of operations, optimisation, and commissioning. You will also be responsible for mentoring junior process engineers and staying up to date with industry developments and innovations. Strong data analysis skills are essential, as you will be expected to evaluate asset performance and develop appropriate technical solutions.
About You / Qualifications
  • Degree qualified in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline (MEng/BEng/BSc).
  • Ideally a Chartered Member of a relevant professional institution.
  • Minimum of 6 years' experience within the UK water industry or a consultancy setting.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering wastewater treatment projects and operational support.
  • Skilled in technical report writing and confident in presenting engineering concepts.
  • Enthusiastic about innovation and continuous improvement in water sector processes.
