Job description
Senior Practitioner – Children in Care Team (Maidenhead)

Sanctuary Personnel has a new permanent Senior Practitioner role in the Children in Care Team to work full time based in Maidenhead. Salary up to £47,708 per annum.

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for a complex caseload including children at risk and those subject to care proceedings and child protection plans, driving up the quality of practice and partnerships while ensuring legislative requirements are met.
  • Act in a consultative and mentoring role to less experienced social workers to ensure reflective practice in single or multi-agency assessments, including developing outcome-focused plans; support less experienced staff with court proceedings and chair core group and multi-agency meetings.
  • Support Team Managers to promote excellence within the team, including peer supervision, mentoring and deputising in the absence of Managers.
  • Gather information to complete clear, accurate, holistic professional assessments of need and risk; critically analyse information and lead the multi-agency approach to safeguard children and young people.
  • Undertake statutory duties under The Children Act and related legislation/guidance (care proceedings, adoption/permanency, risk assessments, investigations); obtain and carry out Court Orders, attend court as the Council's representative and instruct legal counsel.
  • Liaise with professionals and agencies to achieve optimal outcomes; build positive relationships with children and families and ensure their voices are heard through direct work and participation.
  • Take personal responsibility for professional development and reflective practice; stay up to date with changes to legislation, court rules, policies and best practice; engage in CPD and progression through regular check-ins and supervision; attend training.

Requirements

  • A Social Work Qualification or equivalent.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation.
  • Social Work England registered.
