Senior Planning Engineer — Watford, London

Carmichael UK is seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to join a dynamic regional team. In this role, you will oversee the planning and scheduling of multiple live projects valued up to £1 million. You’ll be a key figure in ensuring programmes are realistic, coordinated, and risk-aware, adding real value through proactive planning support and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Creating, developing, and maintaining project programmes using Primavera P6 (MS Project or Asta also considered)
• Monitoring project progress, identifying delays or risks, and providing mitigation strategies
• Working closely with site and project teams to align programmes with logistics and on-site realities
• Identifying and managing project risks, developing recovery and mitigation plans
• Supporting ECI planning and contributing to tender-stage submissions
• Liaising with commercial, design, and delivery teams to ensure programme feasibility
• Producing programme updates and reports for internal and external stakeholders

What we’re looking for

• Strong technical expertise in planning and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 preferred)
• Proven experience in planning and scheduling within the construction or civil engineering sector
• Ability to challenge and influence project teams with practical, risk-aware solutions
• Excellent stakeholder communication and reporting skills
