A leading construction firm in the UK is seeking a Senior Civils Planner to lead the planning function within a project team. The role involves developing and maintaining the project programme in Primavera P6, ensuring quality and consistency of planning against the project schedule. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in managing and delivering large construction projects, particularly in the rail sector, and must possess strong leadership and communication skills. Job description
Overview

The following site-based opportunity inside IR 35, exists for a Senior Civils Planner tolead the planning function within project team for a certain section of works, developing and maintaining the programme in Primavera P6, checking quality and consistency of all planning and associated reporting aligned to the project Schedule Management plan. To review and confirm that all involved parties are aware of their respective accountabilities and responsibilities and provide support and guidance to all the key stakeholders, as appropriate, in line with the production and management of the quality project delivery plans / schedules.

Duties will include -

  • To provide professional leadership in respect of the planning processes; identification of key stakeholders; communication; promote awareness of accountabilities and responsibilities.
  • To develop, maintain, and progress quality project plans / schedules in line with the functional processes and project requirements.
  • To maintain key interdependencies between projects and programmes confirming appropriate monitoring and action is undertaken as required in a timely manner.
  • To demonstrate through agreed performance indicators the efficiency and effectiveness of the project plans / schedules developed and utilised
  • To validate plans / schedules in line with the agreed functional Schedule Management Plan for completeness and fitness for purpose.
  • To provide the key point of interface between the planning function and the project teams and interface between the other project support functions such as Risk & Value, Cost Management etc.
  • To oversee and confirm that the ‘contractor schedules’ comply with the Network Rail procedural and quality requirements.
  • To provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team and provide functional expertise as required.

Requirement for this opportunity includes -

  • Relevant successful experience in the management, planning and delivery of major construction / engineering projects (Civils and Rails preferred)
  • Previous experience on large UK infrastructure projects / JV / alliances projects in a similar position
  • Proficient in the use ofPrimavera P6
  • Previous knowledge and expertise within the field of project resource management.
  • Very Good communication skills at all levels and a team player and able to extract information from the team by leading meetings and discussions.
  • Knowledge of / experience in processes and systems especially within theUK rail industry.
  • Knowledge of NEC
  • Preferably a Civil Engineer with membership of a relevant professional body or have a clearcareer path development plan to attain membership
