Job summary

A leading NHS foundation trust in Greater London is seeking a Senior Pharmacy Technician to assist in delivering a comprehensive pharmacy service. Senior Pharmacy Technician

We are looking for enthusiastic, dynamic and highly motivated Band 5 pharmacy technicians to join our trust bank team at Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be working on wards alongside various clinical teams ward to assist in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service and to provide operational support to the department. This role may involve contributing to our out-of-hours service working in the evenings and on weekends.

Applicants selected for interview will have the choice of a face-to-face interview or virtual interview via MS Teams. Applicants will not be advantaged or disadvantaged based on the interview method they choose.

Main duties of the job

To assist in the delivery of a comprehensive pharmacy service and to provide operational support to the department. This includes ward-based clinical pharmacy services, working to specific clinical objectives depending on the focus of the service and patient cohort, with the possibility of contributing to the out-of-hours service in the evenings or at weekends.

Person Specification
  • Registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Completion of the Accreditation Checking Pharmacy Technician Scheme (ACPT)
  • NVQ L3 Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) plus L3 QCF Diploma in Pharmaceutical Science or GPhC accredited equivalent or GPhC equivalents prior to July 2011
  • London Pharmacy Education and Training – Technician Self Development Programme – Stage 2 or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to dispense accurately to set standards
  • Medicine Management Accreditation or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to counsel and give advice to patients on their medications
  • Familiar in using the following computer systems: EPIC
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate self and others
Additional
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately judge and assess patient's own medication
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise and organise routine daily tasks using own initiative
  • Have worked in a clinical ward-based team.
  • Have worked in a hospital pharmacy dispensary.
Desireable
  • Demonstrated ability to work to set procedures
  • Able to demonstrate a good understanding of the context of hospital pharmacy and the NHS
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately record patient medicine reconciliation
