Job description
Overview

Working under the supervision of the Specialist Pharmacy Technician and Lead Pharmacy Assistant, you will play a major role in the supply of medication across Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and external organisations, including Pendleside Hospice and St Catherine's Hospice. Core duties include, but are not limited to: order assembly, stock replenishment to wards and departments, delivery and dispatch, stock control, and use of the Pharmacy IT System and Pharmacy WebTracker. This role supports the organisation's goal of delivering high-quality patient care and may involve supervision and development of pharmacy personnel.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise, provide guidance and direction to Pharmacy Assistants within the designated area.
  • Support training and development of pharmacy personnel; contribute to the development and implementation of new services, processes and procedures to deliver services in line with professional, local and national directives.
  • Carry out duties such as order assembly, stock replenishment, delivery/dispatch, and stock control; utilise the Pharmacy IT System and Pharmacy WebTracker.
  • Communicate effectively with the Pharmacy Team, Ward Teams, and External Customers; escalate situations outside of the role remit to the appropriate pharmacist or technician.
  • Assist with service meetings, minute taking and other clerical duties; read minutes/Team Brief/Trust Bulletins and encourage this within the team.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures; manage supply problems and complete documentation accurately.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Team to chase outstanding orders and coordinate relevant transport/collections.
  • Chairs the weekly team meeting in the absence of the Senior Pharmacy Technicians; undertake pharmaceutical duties under the supervision of a pharmacist or technician in all areas of Pharmacy as required.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Possess 4 GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent), including Maths and English.
  • Experience of working in a pharmacy and/or warehousing environment.
  • Already have or be working towards a NVQ Level 2 - Pharmacy Services.
  • Availability to work core hours: 8:00am–6:00pm Monday to Friday; 9:00am–5:30pm Saturday and Sunday; 9:00am–5:30pm Bank Holidays.
