In our quest to deliver patient-focused quality care we are looking to recruit a highly motivated, innovative and enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist to join our forward thinking, friendly and expanding Health & Justice team at YOI Feltham A. By joining our Prisons Health Care Team, you will look after the healthcare needs of our patients residing in secure environments, and contribute to promoting health and well-being. Our healthcare services operate on a 7-day week model to ensure healthcare is managed and maintained to high standards. Our motto is "Caring NOT Judging" and we partner with the criminal justice system and other agencies to provide responsive, dependable and high-quality primary care and mental health services to those who may have offended or are at risk of offending in the communities we serve.

Responsibilities
  • To oversee the development & implementation of occupational therapy within Feltham A. Supported by the wider team and Lead OT who will be overseeing the growth of OT services in our HMYOI Feltham A.
  • To manage a caseload with complex, severe & enduring mental health needs, providing interventions which support & promote improved health. The caseload will be OT specific work, utilising an effective referral process. They will also provide input into the Neurodiverse pathway of care.
  • To be responsible for the planning & management of a structured, occupation focussed therapeutic regime within the Enhanced Support Unit. Working collaboratively with young people to facilitate meaningful, skill based activities.
  • To work in conjunction with the multi-disciplined team to promote the understanding of the OT perspective & its application to working with this client group.
  • To work alongside senior staff in the MDT to support the development of services. To support directorate wide development of OT as part of a supportive & friendly Health & Justice OT network.
  • To provide an Occupational Therapy perspective whilst engaging & contributing to professional meetings such as CPA, multi-agency case reviews, risk management meetings, & any other meetings related to the care & treatment of the patients in our care.
  • To also act as an educator to students on practice placement, as part of the AHP fair share agreement.
