Main duties of the job

The post-holder is responsible for delivering high‑quality continuing professional development (CPD) for nurses on Critical Care at UCLH. They will lead the design and development of the CPD offer in response to critical care expansion and the development of new roles to future‑proof workforce retention.

The post holder will also work under the direction of the Critical Care Senior Matron to develop and lead a Critical Care Nurse Education Strategy aligned to the new funding model by HEE, with a focus on specialist CPD education, qualification in specialism and career pathways specific to critical care.

They will ensure that the development of patient‑focused clinical practice is supported via the practice development structure and its network of clinical practice facilitators (CPFs) in the delivery of excellence in nursing care and the objectives of the Nursing and Midwifery Strategy in relation to critical care nursing.

Additionally the post holder will contribute to the promotion of UCLH as a centre of excellence for nursing practice and research, fostering a culture that values staff, recognises achievement and enables career progression and succession planning.
