Overview

We’re looking for a Senior Nurse to play an essential role in delivering outstanding end-of-life care while supporting and developing our incredible team. You’ll be joining us as we welcome our first in-patients at our brand new Hospice at the Lambert in Thirsk.

Our family of services - Herriot Hospice Homecare, Just B and Saint Michaels Hospice - provide vital support to people when they need it most. Our vision is of a community where everyone gets the care they need, want and deserve, and you can help make that a reality. We are an independent charity powered by local communities. Every day, we help to improve quality of life for people living with terminal illness, bereavement and mental health concerns, because our belief is that no one should suffer. Responsibilities
  • Deliver expert palliative and end-of-life care with empathy and professionalism.
  • Take clinical leadership on shift, supporting and guiding the wider nursing and care team.
  • Act as a mentor and role model, championing continuous learning and a positive team culture.
  • Play an active role in service improvement, clinical audits, and governance.
Location and Contract Details
  • Location: Thirsk, North Yorkshire (commutable from Ripon, Darlington, Durham, York and Teesside)
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Hours: 30-37.5 hours per week (including nights and weekends)
  • Salary: £45,969.69 per annum FTE (split 55% socials/45% unsocial)
  • Closing Date: Friday 13 February 2026 (advert may close early if sufficient suitable applications)

You will need to be an experienced and compassionate Senior Nurse with strong clinical judgement and the confidence to lead and support others.
