Job description

Senior Care Assistant, Bramble Down Nursing Home – 24 to 48 hours per week, to include alternate weekends. £13.15, £13.40 per hour at weekends.

Leadership with Heart. Care with Purpose.

This role isn’t for the faint-hearted…It’s for someone who knows that care work is equal parts heart, grit, and leadership.

Someone who has been through the hard days – and still shows up with compassion and strength. Someone who can guide others, even when things get messy or unpredictable.

As a Senior Care Assistant, you won’t just be supporting residents – you’ll be supporting the team that supports them. You’ll be the steady hand, the calm voice, the one others look to when they’re unsure.

Because the truth is: this work is hard.

It’s early starts, emotional goodbyes, and the kind of responsibility that doesn’t clock off.

But it’s also deeply human, endlessly rewarding, and full of moments that remind you exactly why you chose this path.

What you’ll do
  • Lead and inspire a team of care assistants with empathy, clarity, and confidence.
  • Ensure every resident is treated with dignity, compassion, and respect – always.
  • Build meaningful relationships with residents, understanding their unique preferences and needs, so you can provide the best possible care and support.
  • Work closely with other staff, health care professionals, families, and managers to ensure the best possible care.
  • Update and maintain electronic care plans and risk assessments, ensuring they reflect the evolving needs of each individual, from pre‑admission onward.
  • Use the eMAR system to manage the safe administration of medication, ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory guidelines.
  • Be responsible for the safety and wellbeing of residents, staff, and visitors within the home, ensuring the environment is safe and conducive to quality care.
  • Be present in the day‑to‑day: from personal care to emotional support, and everything in between.
Who you are
  • An experienced care assistant or senior with the skills – and heart – to lead by example.
  • Calm under pressure, great with people, and grounded in empathy.
  • Passionate about high standards and meaningful care – not just ticking tasks off a list.
  • NVQ Level 3 or working towards it? Even better.
What we offer
  • A team that listens, supports, and values your voice.
  • Fully paid training and plenty of career progression opportunities
  • Induction programme with a dedicated mentor to help you feel supported and comfortable in your new role
  • Free DBS check and auto‑enrolment pension
  • The use of ‘Flex Earn’ enabling you to access wages earnt in advance of pay day, viewing earnt wages in real time
  • Blue Light Card eligibility – discounts on retail, eating out, and more!
  • Free meals provided when working long shifts
  • Access to Peninsula Care Homes Mental Health First Aider; an external Confidential Care helpline for you and your family members; Peninsula Care Home’s ‘Whycare?’ app and Refer a Friend scheme (earn money for bringing your friends on board!)
  • The joy of being part of someone’s final chapter – and making sure it’s filled with comfort, respect, and love.

This is more than a step up. It’s a step deeper – into work that matters, with people who care.

If you’re ready to lead with both strength and compassion, we’d love to welcome you.
