Job summary

A financial services company is seeking an experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter to lead complex mortgage and equity release cases. You will provide high-quality underwriting decisions and support best practices across the team. This role requires significant underwriting experience and knowledge of mortgage regulation. The contract is for 6 months, with an expected start date immediately, and you will work Monday to Friday with an initial onsite training period.

Qualifications

  • Significant underwriting experience, ideally including Equity Release.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage regulation and risk assessment.
  • Confident decision-maker with excellent stakeholder communication skills.

Job description

We're looking for an experienced Senior Mortgage Underwriter to lead complex mortgage and equity release cases, providing high-quality underwriting decisions and supporting best practice across the team.

Responsibilities
  • Underwrite complex mortgage and equity release cases in line with policy and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to underwriters.
  • Support quality assurance, policy interpretation, and process improvement.
  • Act as a senior escalation point for risk and lending decisions.
Qualifications
  • Significant underwriting experience, ideally including Equity Release.
  • Strong knowledge of mortgage regulation and risk assessment.
  • Confident decision-maker with excellent stakeholder communication skills.

This will be an initial 6‑month contract, with a start date expected immediately. You will be working Monday‑Friday (37.5 hours per week). This involves being onsite for the first 4 weeks for initial training, followed by 4 days a week onsite thereafter.

You will receive a salary of £400 per day, via an umbrella company.
