Job summary

A leading engineering services firm is looking for a Principal MEP Mechanical Engineer to oversee mechanical engineering for residential and commercial projects in the UK. This role involves leading design development, ensuring compliance with standards, and managing project delivery from pre-construction to handover. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in mechanical services with over 10 years of experience, possess a relevant degree, and demonstrate leadership skills. This position offers hybrid working arrangements.

Qualifications

• Typically 10+ years' experience in UK building services engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status desirable.
• Proven experience delivering residential and commercial projects through construction and handover.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering delivery across multiple residential and commercial projects.
• Provide mechanical input into bids, tenders, and pre-construction activities.
• Provide senior mechanical engineering support to site and project teams.

Skills

Strong contractor-side experience delivering mechanical services on residential and commercial developments

In-depth knowledge of HVAC systems

Strong leadership and decision-making capability in live construction environments

Clear and effective communication with site teams, consultants, subcontractors, and clients

Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently

Education

Degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering

Tools

BIM Level 2 coordination using Revit and Navisworks
