Qualifications

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
  • Chartered or working towards Chartership (IET/CIBSE).
  • Significant consultancy experience within building services.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC and sustainable design.
  • Confident conducting independent site visits and discussions.
  • Excellent communicator with strong problem-solving skills.

Senior Mechanical Engineer

Location: Manchester (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: £45k - £60k (DOE)

We are recruiting for an award-winning company that are expanding their Manchester team and are looking for a hands‑on Senior Mechanical Engineer who thrives on solving engineering challenges and delivering high‑quality design solutions.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of projects from initial concept through to completion, working across a diverse portfolio and supporting the growth and development of their engineering team. Regular travel to site for surveys, inspections, client meetings, and technical reviews will be a key part of your work.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Leading mechanical design for building services across all RIBA stages
  • Carrying out site visits, condition surveys, inspections, and progress meetings
  • Preparing design calculations, technical specifications, and detailed reports
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
  • Mentoring junior and intermediate engineers
  • Managing client relationships and ensuring exceptional service delivery
  • Contributing to technical reviews, design standards, and continuous improvement
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practice
About You
  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Chartered or working toward Chartership (IET/CIBSE) – highly desirable
  • Significant consultancy experience within building services
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, low‑carbon technologies, and sustainable design
