Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Kingston Upon Thames

Salary: £45,000 - £55,000

My client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to take a lead role in the development, coordination, and delivery of complex mechanical systems from initial concept through to final commissioning. This position offers the opportunity to influence major projects, guide junior engineers, and contribute to a collaborative, forward-thinking engineering team.

Key responsibilities
  • Undertake feasibility studies, technical evaluations, and detailed mechanical design calculations.
  • Produce high-quality technical drawings, engineering documents, and performance specifications.
  • Coordinate closely with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary internal teams.
  • Participate in construction activities, including site inspections, supervision, and commissioning oversight.
  • Deliver efficient, reliable, and sustainable engineering solutions aligned with project requirements and industry standards.
What we’re looking for
  • A solid understanding of building services and utility infrastructure.
  • Proficiency with tools such as IESVE, EDSL-TAS, AutoCAD, Revit, and NBS.
  • Good knowledge of UK building regulations, standards, and industry guidance.
  • Strong leadership qualities, including the ability to mentor junior colleagues and support team growth.
  • Strong experience from a consultancy or contractor background and contributed to medium and large-scale commercial or industrial projects.
