Overview

Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager - Plymouth

We are recruiting for a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Contracts Manager to take a leading role in delivering the mechanical elements of a multimillion pound flagship project in Plymouth. This is a senior position within a Tier 1 contractor environment, where you'll oversee mechanical packages from planning through to handover, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead all mechanical aspects of a major MEP project, ensuring budgets, quality, and deadlines are met.
• Develop and manage detailed project programmes, coordinating with other disciplines and subcontractors.
• Monitor resources, labour, plant, and materials to optimise efficiency.
• Ensure full health & safety compliance across all mechanical operations.
• Conduct quality checks and audits to meet industry and client standards.
• Provide financial oversight including cost reporting, forecasting, and subcontractor management.
• Act as a key client liaison, building strong relationships and providing regular progress updates.
• Lead, mentor, and motivate project teams including engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors.

About You

• Circa 10+ years' experience in mechanical engineering and project management, ideally on large-scale MEP projects.
• Previous healthcare project experience desirable.
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3/NEC4).
• Excellent leadership, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management experience.
• Detail-focused, with a proven ability to deliver to the highest compliance and technical standards.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering Services (minimum).
• City & Guilds 6188 - Heating and Ventilating (Industrial & Commercial Systems).
• CSCS Card - Managerial/Professionally Qualified.
• SSSTS or SMSTS is essential
• Additional qualifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, or NEC contract training are advantageous.
