Job description
Overview

A highly skilled Senior Marine System Engineer is required to support global activities across various floating LNG and FPSO projects. The role involves providing technical expertise during design, FEED, and execution phases, with a focus on marine systems engineering, project documentation review, and operational safety.

Responsibilities
  • Define and develop optimal technical solutions for marine systems.
  • Prepare technical specifications and functional requirements for marine systems in FPSO and FLNG units during FEED and EPC phases.
  • Monitor and review FEED and EPC projects, including marine system equipment, P&IDs, and PFDs.
  • Provide technical support during Technical Clarification meetings and participate in HAZID/HAZOP sessions.
  • Review and assess technical documentation submitted by contractors and shipyards.
  • Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure marine system integration and operability.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications
  • Degree in Naval Engineering with a focus on Marine Systems.
Professional Experience
  • Extensive experience with FEED and EPC LNG projects.
  • Seagoing experience as a Second or Chief Engineer on Oil Tankers or LNG Carriers.
  • Experience with Classification Societies or as a Tanker/LNG Ship Vetting Engineer (advantageous).
  • Active participation in project HAZID/HAZOP processes.
Technical Skills
  • Expertise in marine system design including:
  • Slop and drain systems
  • Bilge and ballast systems
  • Inert gas systems
  • Power generation (diesel/gas) and auxiliary systems
  • Freshwater production
  • Compressed air systems
  • Oil and gas loading and storage
  • Gas liquefaction and offtake systems
  • LNG tank design and maintenance
  • Proficiency in preparing and reviewing project P&IDs and PFDs for marine systems.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable regulatory frameworks:
  • Classification Society Rules
  • SOLAS
  • MARPOL (specific to FPSO/FLNG)
Certifications
  • OPITO certification for offshore travel (preferred but not mandatory).
Contract Details
  • Duration: 12-month assignment (with potential for extension)
  • Location: Basingstoke, UK (with short international business trips)
  • Working Hours: Full-time 40 hours
