Please ensure you personally complete your application and read all the instructions carefully to maximise your chances of success., We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Legal Assistant to join us to provide high quality support to a team of children social care lawyers.

Responsibilities

You will provide support on a range of legal matters relating to the safeguarding of children, public and private law proceedings. You will work closely with the lawyers in the team on allocated cases and be responsible for the management and organisation of your own work and caseload. You will need to ensure the work meets with any quality standards which may be set and may be responsible for the provision of an accurate court bundle where required. Responsibilities include drafting, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, requesting evidence, timetabling, and clerking counsel at hearings where required.

We are a close-knit team providing high quality advice working collaboratively with colleagues across services to promote best practice and outcomes. Personal development is promoted with opportunities to increase knowledge and experience alongside mentoring and peer support., This post is a designated customer facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.

Qualifications

Essential Requirement: Degree in law or equivalent qualification or at least 2 years' experience of legal work gained in a legal setting., The ideal candidate will have demonstrable knowledge and experience in legal assistant duties. You will have the ability to work to deadlines, be highly organised and enjoy working as part of a team. Excellent communication skills will be required, as well as the ability to work under pressure and adapt quickly to changing priorities. You will have the ability and confidence to work independently whilst knowing when to ask for support or guidance.

Preferred Experience

Whilst previous local authority experience would be advantageous, we encourage applications from candidates who have private practice experience/experience in other areas of law within the same or similar roles or who have experience in other in-house roles where you possess the desired transferrable skills.
