Job description
Overview

Post Title: Senior Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography

SBU/Department: School of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences/Allied Health Professions, Midwifery and Social Work

FTE: Min of 0.5 FTE (18.5 hours per week) up to 1.0 FTE (37 hours per week). Part-time options welcome. Duration of Contract: Permanent. Salary: UH8 £46,049 p.a. pro rata to £58,225 p.a. pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience. Annual Leave: 35 days plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the office closure between Christmas and New Year. Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire, Hatfield.

Responsibilities
  • You will participate in teaching, assessment and module management on the programmes delivered by the Diagnostic Radiography team and will have the opportunity to contribute to research.
  • You will participate, as required, in development and reviews of programmes including inter-professional developments across the School.
  • You will contribute to the interview admissions team for the undergraduate, degree apprenticeship and pre-registration MSc Diagnostic Radiography programmes, including attendance at some open weekend days.
  • You will contribute to the ongoing evaluation and review of the School’s activities.
  • You will undertake and contribute to Diagnostic Radiography research and contribute to the administration of the School by undertaking additional roles (e.g., module lead, joining or leading teams involved in admissions, timetabling or programme support).
Skills and experience
  • Be an experienced Diagnostic Radiographer registered with the HCPC with recent academic and/or clinical experience in the UK.
  • Have broad experience of relevant Diagnostic Radiography practice and a sustained interest in contemporary Diagnostic Radiography practice.
  • Demonstrate good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work without close supervision and as part of a team.
  • Be adaptable to change and flexible to team and workload requirements; willing to contribute to inter-professional teaching and learning activities.
  • A willingness to undertake Diagnostic Radiography research is desirable.
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography or related discipline.
  • Master’s degree or close to completion (or equivalent level 7) in a relevant subject or substantial clinical experience as a radiographer.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Diagnostic Radiographer.
Additional requirements
  • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS): minimum Basic DBS check; enhanced check may be required for certain duties.
  • Overseas applicants and UK applicants who have lived abroad: may be required to provide a Certificate of Good Character/Conduct from each country lived in the last 10 years.
  • Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) certificate may be required for the appointment.
  • Visa sponsorship: post cannot be sponsored unless a good honours degree plus PhD/Doctorate is evidenced; criminal record check may be required.
