Application Deadline: 5 August 2025

Department: Information Technology

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: EPUKI Leeds Office

Description

EPUKI are recruiting for a Senior Infrastructure Engineer based at our EPUKI Leeds office.

The Senior Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining robust IT infrastructure solutions across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. This role bridges traditional infrastructure management with modern cloud technologies, ensuring seamless integration between legacy systems and cloud-native solutions. The position requires managing complex environments while maintaining high availability, security, and performance standards across all infrastructure components.

The role encompasses both strategic infrastructure planning and hands-on technical delivery, requiring collaboration with diverse stakeholders to align infrastructure capabilities with business objectives. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the organisation's IT modernisation initiative, facilitating the transition from a traditional environment to a hybrid model. This includes managing cost, ensuring regulatory compliance, and optimising processes.

This is a hybrid-working role, with the expectation to be present at the office for a minimum of two days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain hybrid infrastructure solutions, integrating on-premises VMware environments with cloud services, while ensuring alignment with business goals and security standards.
  • Administer VMware and Windows Server environments, managing virtualisation, lifecycle, capacity planning, and supporting legacy server platforms.
  • Implement and manage Azure cloud services, including compute, storage, networking, security, and hybrid connectivity (e.g., VPN, Azure Arc).
  • Utilise Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as ARM templates, Terraform, and Azure DevOps for consistent and automated deployments.
  • Ensure operational excellence through proactive monitoring, patching, performance optimisation, and capacity planning across hybrid environments.
  • Automate infrastructure tasks and system processes using scripting languages like PowerShell and Python to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Lead and support infrastructure-related projects, collaborating with stakeholders, managing timelines, and providing technical expertise and mentorship.
  • Respond to and resolve incidents, performing root cause analysis and implementing preventative measures to ensure system stability and resilience.
  • Join the emergency out-of-hours team to cover high-priority incidents on a rotating one-in-seven basis.
