Job summary

A leading technical services provider in Leyland is seeking a Senior HGV Technician to perform inspections and repairs on heavy goods vehicles. The ideal candidate will have over 8 years of experience and will be capable of diagnosing mechanical issues and leading a small team. A competitive salary ranging from £54,000 to £61,700 is offered for this days-only position (Monday to Friday).

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience as an HGV / Plant Technician.
  • Apprentice trained with relevant qualifications.
  • Valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence preferred.
  • Experience in MOT Preparation for Tractor Units & Trailers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections and maintenance on HGVs and trailers.
  • Diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical faults.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and records.
  • Coordinate with workshop admin to order vehicle parts.

Days Only (Mon-Fri)

Performance Objectives
  • Carry out routine inspections, maintenance, repairs & MOTs on HGV's, Trailers, Pool Cars & Other Plant to VOSA standard
  • Diagnose and rectify all types of mechanical & electrical faults using Texa diagnostic equipment
  • Dismantle, repair / replace faulty components and test the new ones are working safely
  • Liaise with HGV workshop administrator to order vehicle parts
  • Ensure all relevant documentation is completed and accurate records are maintained.
  • Good communication and maintain a clean, safe and organised work environment
Person Specification
  • 8+ Years of HGV / Plant Technician experience
  • Apprentice trained and qualified to City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Goods Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
  • Holds valid HGV Class 1 (C&E) Licence (Desirable)
  • MOT Preparation Experience - Tractor Units & Trailers
  • Previous experience working with HGV's and Plant, basic welding skills, hydraulic & auto electrical skills
  • Ability to lead a small team as well as use own initiative to work independently.
  • Hardworking and can work well under pressure in a safe and responsible manner
