Senior Front End Developer required to work with existing team of PHP Zend Framework2 devs to update and maintain existing functionality and produce new features to ensure that the the business critical application (Sirius - a custom-built, open source case management system) is iterated and improved via user first principles

Expected contract length 12 month initial contract length with the option for extension

Who the specialist will work with

Developer is expected to work with Product Manager, WebOps team, Back-end Developers, User Researcher and UX Designer

What the specialist will work on

  • Do the front-end development work on the 'SIRIUS' case management system
  • Maintain existing functionality and produce new features to ensure that the business critical application (Sirius - a custom-built, open source case management system hosted on AWS) is iterated and improved via user first principles

Work setup

Address where the work will take place Expected to work from Embankment House, Nottingham

Working arrangements

Expected to work onsite at least 3 days a week, with the option to work remotely for 2 days a week.

Security clearance

Baseline security clearance e.g. DBS or Disclosure Scotland National Security Clearance may also be required once onsite

Qualifications

Essential skills and experience

  • Excellent knowledge of AngularJS and Protractor
  • CSS3 with LESS experience
  • Working within an agile environment
  • WAI accessibility expertise [Level A, AA, AAA]
  • Grunt, Gulp or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the Git version control system

Nice-to-have skills and experience

  • Good understanding of the GDS design principles and Service Design Manual
  • Knowledge of Jira and Confluence
  • Experience of Continuous integration (preferably with Jenkins)
  • Good Docker knowledge
  • Experience of Elasticsearch
  • Experience of AWS hosting
  • Basic PHP (Zend Framework 2) with experience of PHP Templates, Twig or similar.
  • BDD and automated user acceptance testing using tools such as Gherkin/Cucumber, Behat and Webdriver
  • Worked with a server based MVC framework
  • Able to manipulate images in an image editor such as Photoshop or Pixelmator
  • User research and experience of co-locating with users and acting on feedback
