Senior Finance Officer
  • Hourly Rate: £300 per day
  • Location: Kirklees, HD1
  • Job Type: Temporary Contract
  • Work Mode: Hybrid

We are seeking a Senior Finance Officer responsible for providing day-to-day financial support across a diverse portfolio of services. This role specialises in key areas of finance service provision, such as Financial Planning or Corporate Financial Accounting. The successful candidate will also manage a team of Finance Officers and Assistant Finance Officers.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide high-quality finance services within set timescales, adhering to statutory, council rules, and procedures.
  • Contribute to the achievement of Service objectives.
  • Maintain and continuously improve high-quality financial processes.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in maintaining and developing the service.
  • Maximise the contribution of individual team members.
  • Ensure duties are performed in line with the Council’s policies, statutory and financial procedures, and relevant legislation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualified AAT, qualified or part-qualified CCAB, or demonstrable ability to work at that level through relevant experience.
  • Proven experience in the preparation and monitoring of capital and revenue budgets.
  • Extensive experience within a financial or resource environment of a local authority or other complex organisation, providing financial advice to senior managers.
  • Proven experience in the maintenance and preparation of annual accounts in accordance with accounting regulations and codes of practice.
