Job description

Due to increased workload, we are now recruiting for an experienced Senior Engineer for our Highways Division. This is a permanent role and there will be a need to work nights (8pm to 6am) and weekends when required. The main purpose of the role is to progress the construction process and assist in delivering the project.

Main Duties
  • Undertake day to day setting out duties with no supervision
  • Train, manage and mentor Junior Engineers
  • Manage and monitor all site sample / performance testing requirements and maintain records in line with the contract specification.
  • Complete hazard / risk assessments and method statements.
  • Manage the site service plans/ drawings. Issue permits accordingly.
  • Assist the site QS / Project Manager with providing the relevant information for records and claims purposes.
  • Monitor and control temporary works.
  • Develop and maintain relations with client, suppliers and sub-contractors.
  • Ensure all work complies with quality, safety and environmental policies and the requirements of the company procedures.
Ideal Candidate / Responsibilities

We are seeking someone who is ambitious, proactive, and motivated with the ability to mentor and progress the skills of the industrial / graduate engineers. You will be able to set out accurately and with no supervision and able to organise and prioritise your workload.

The ideal candidate will have experience in programming and planning upcoming works, completing RAMs, ITPs, RFIs and QA paperwork as well as knowledge of Civil3D, AutoCAD and MS Project. Previous Highways experience would be needed for this position.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have experience in heavy civils with a main contractor, and also have a CSCS card and a suitable qualification in civil engineering, minimum requirement HND as well as ICE membership as well as SMSTS and SSSTS. A First Aid at work qualification, and a Degree in Civil Engineering as well as training in confined spaces would also be desirable for this role. Due to the nature of the role a full UK driving license is essential and the successful candidate will be happy to travel throughout our Highways Division.
