Job summary

A management consultancy is seeking a Senior Engineer/Technician to join their Engineering team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, configuring, and testing Human Machine Interface (HMI) systems and ensuring the performance of our manufacturing systems. The position requires a degree in an engineering discipline and experience with industrial control systems. This role includes collaboration with project execution teams to enhance quality and help rectify issues during testing.

Qualifications

  • Degree qualified or equivalent professional accreditation in an engineering discipline.
  • Experience with industrial controls system applications is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and test HMI builds on Windows endpoints.
  • Configure, develop, and test networking components like industrial firewalls.
  • Collaborate and support the Project Execution team for quality enhancement.
  • Identify and rectify problems found during testing.
Job description
Role Summary

We're currently looking to add a Senior engineer/technician to our Engineering team. Working as part of the Engineering team you will be responsible for the build, development, and support of industrial Human Machine Interface systems (hardware + software) for the modernisation and upgrade of our manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, and test standardised HMI builds on Windows endpoints, servers, and clients. Including engineering software such as:
    • AVEVA Intouch
    • FactoryTalk Optix
    • Simatic PCS7
    • WinCC
  • Cybersecurity software / measures:
    • Windows hardening
    • Endpoint security
    • Whitelisting
    • Secure backups
  • Configure, develop, and test networking components such as industrial firewalls and managed switches.
  • Develop and maintain work instruction documentation for build configurations.
  • Create and maintain information database(s).
  • Collaborate and support the Project Execution team to enhance quality and on‑time delivery.
  • Identify and rectify problems found during testing of software/hardware and support the Field Service team during commissioning of equipment/software.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified or equivalent professional accreditation or recognition in an engineering discipline preferably relating to the fields of Computer Science, Control Systems, Cybersecurity.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of experience working with industrial controls system applications such as:
    • Rockwell/Allen Bradley Control Logix
    • PCS7 Control Systems
    • AVEVA Intouch
    • Factory Talk Optix
  • Familiarity with industrial networks and cyber security standards, frameworks, and regulations:
    • IEC-62443
    • NCSC CAF
    • EU Cyber Resilience Act
  • Working knowledge of change/configuration management tools and processes, as well as experience with other IT related tools and software for business analytics and project management.
  • Practitioner of a Systems Engineering approach to product improvement is highly desirable.
