This organisation creates mechanical and electrical design engineering solutions for sectors across the built environment including Education, Commercial, Hotel & Leisure and more. This business is well-known for its supportive, trusting, social working environment. They are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Building Services) to join their Glasgow office. This role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual keen to progress to Associate; you will be working for a supportive organisation that will provide you with the tools/support to get there.

Role

Responsibilities

• Understand project briefs and design and specify Electrical Building Services systems (power, earthing, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, access control, lifts, lightning protection, etc.).
• Carry out and, where appropriate, manage others in the production of detailed calculations using industry standard software tools including Excel, Dialux, Amtech, and in-house developed tools.
• Represent the organisation at meetings with clients and contractors.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections and monitoring of site works.
• Prepare reports and technical notes.
• Maintain complete records and archives to company standards.
• Adhere to all quality, environmental and governance processes.

Qualifications / Experience

• Degree qualified or equivalent qualification in Building Services Engineering / Mechanical Engineering.
• Ideally chartered or working towards this with CIBSE or IET.
• 5-10 years experience working in a design consultancy or a similar environment.
• Knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment.
• Good report writing skills; experience of making presentations to and attending meetings with clients.
• Detailed knowledge of appropriate technical standards; able to take charge of project deliverables, make decisions, and act on own initiative.
• Good level of computer literacy in a range of digital tools such as IES thermal modelling package, Microsoft packages, CAD.
