As a Senior Electrical Engineer and Project Manager you will make a powerful contribution to maintaining safety in homes across Westminster’s housing portfolio. This is a technically critical role at the heart of Housing Services, where your expertise directly supports the council’s duty to repair, maintain and upgrade electrical installations across its stock.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as the council’s senior electrical contact, providing authoritative technical advice and guidance to a wide range of teams, including Major Works, Regeneration, Asset Strategy and the wider Housing Services network.
  • Lead the project management of major responsive electrical repairs, ensuring urgent issues are managed swiftly and safely.
  • Develop, define and manage projects delivered through the M&E capital programme, ensuring scopes are technically accurate, compliant with regulations and delivered to the highest standards.
  • Manage the full programme of planned preventative maintenance, ensuring works are correctly programmed, delivered on time and followed by appropriate remedial actions.
  • Review and agree on the scopes and costs for remedial works, verify all submitted certifications and take corrective action where certificates are missing, incorrect or late.
  • Audit PPM programmes to ensure systems, reporting and contractor performance remain robust, accurate and compliant.
  • Regular on site inspections, confirming that major repairs and PPM works meet regulatory, contractual and technical standards and coordinating responses to resident faults.
  • Raise and cancel orders on internal systems, support the onboarding of new properties and ensure all new assets are incorporated into relevant testing programmes.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across Housing Services to improve quality, ensure consistent service delivery and enhance resident satisfaction; attend out‑of‑hours activities and Residents’ Association meetings.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Experienced electrical professional with a strong background in repair and maintenance services for residential buildings, managing complex issues across a large and varied housing portfolio.
  • Proven ability to work directly with residents, colleagues and wider stakeholder groups, resolving issues sensitively and effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, able to translate technical information into language that is accessible to non‑technical audiences.
  • Methodical, analytical, strong numeracy skills and great attention to detail; adept at investigating complaints and preparing written responses.
  • Strong planning, organising and prioritising skills, producing high‑quality output and managing competing demands effectively.
  • Experience supporting project and programme delivery, using a range of communication skills to coordinate activities and ensure progress.
  • Committed to continuous professional development, investing in learning and maintaining a strong grasp of technical and regulatory requirements.
