Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Senior Design Manager in London who will lead the translation of contract drawings into effective development solutions. The ideal candidate will have over 10 years of design management experience and a degree in Structural or Civil Engineering. Responsibilities
  • Leading the translation of contract drawings, specifications and documentation into an effective and commercial development solution
  • Managing the discharging of planning conditions and building control on assigned projects
  • Management of novated designers, including fees and information delivery
  • Coordination of trade packages, including responding to design queries, managing change control and drawing approvals to agreed protocols
  • Regularly reporting progress and keeping the department head and board Director appraised of progress and key issues on all current projects
  • Resolving all day‑to‑day design problems as they arise by preparing solutions and, where appropriate, liaising with the head of department for submission to the Client for approval
  • Awareness and identification of design risks and proactively driving appropriate resolutions
  • Regular attendance at project meetings
Qualifications and Attributes
  • Minimum of 10 years design management experience
  • Enjoyment of working in the office during pre‑construction, and then on site during site production
  • Degree qualification in Structural / Civil Engineering or Construction
  • Up to date knowledge of building regulations
