DO YOU WANT TO WORK FOR A COMPANY WHO FOCUS ON MAKING THE WORLD A BETTER PLACE?!

We are delighted to be representing a forward-thinking, growing business which serves the healthcare sector, and are looking for an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join them on a full-time, permanent basis.

Duties for this Senior Design Engineer role will be varied and require someone flexible who enjoys working as part of a team but is experienced enough to manage projects independently from start to finish.

Reporting into a great manager who is a technical expert, and able to offer progression for the right person, this Senior Design Engineer will be:

  • Developing new safety critical products for a range of customers globally
  • Innovatively managing the design process from start to finish, inclusive of the manufacture of prototypes, components and full systems
  • Using a variety of software including SolidWorks.
  • Using a purpose-built workshop within brand new office space to test ideas, create prototypes and demonstrate designs, including a range of lathes, milling machines, saws and other hand tools
  • Creatively problem solving using your technical expertise as a qualified, experienced Mechanical Design Engineer, and working collaboratively with your colleagues, supporting their projects where possible
  • Managing product testing for pre-released products and altering designs where necessary.
  • Ensuring products are compliant with all regulations, with the support of the Compliance specialist within the team.
  • Travelling overseas to meet with teams on-site (international travel likely to be 1-2 times a year)
  • Working to targets and deadlines
  • Offering support in the development and upskilling of more junior team members
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of the team
  • Producing full product specifications for manufacturing processes
  • Ordering materials where needed, or working with suppliers to ensure materials used are of the right quality predominantly wood and metal
  • Accurately managing all documentation, including use of various systems

The successful Senior Design Engineer will:

  • Be educated to degree level as a minimum (or equivalent) in a technical, relevant Engineering capacity (Mechanical Engineering, Product Design etc.)
  • Not be a job hopper, and will be able to demonstrate significant relevant working experience working for a similar SME
  • Use SolidWorks to an advanced level, ideally with PDM knowledge
  • Be passionate about hands on Engineering, with previous experience using machinery
  • Have a portfolio of products brought to market
  • Have worked with metal previously and ideally with wood, with a good understanding of materials
  • Be a team player with a good sense of humour!
  • Show willing to be hands-on, creating products beyond the 3D modelling stage, and into the testing stage to then make alterations where necessary.
  • Communicate effectively
  • Be flexible in terms of travel for the role

This is a really sought after opportunity, which won t be around for long because:

  • You will have the opportunity to work within a cohesive team focused on growth for the future, with a supportive manager who is focused on the development of the team
  • You will be working from fantastic offices with great facilities including a brand-new workshop of dreams!
  • Free lunch every day!
  • Flexible, mature approach to working hours/location
  • Generous holiday allowance of 25 days + BH
  • Companywide bonus structure
  • Annual pay review
  • Opportunity to travel, including to the States and get paid for it!
