Senior Data Governance Manager (Contract - SC Cleared)

Locations: Canary Wharf

Rate: £650-£700 per day (Inside IR35)

Contract Length: 6 months

Security Clearance: SC Cleared (essential)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Governance Manager to lead and strengthen enterprise data governance capability within a complex, regulated environment. This role will act as a senior authority on governance policy, data quality, and Microsoft Purview, supporting both strategic direction and hands‑on delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the creation, maintenance, and evolution of data management and data governance policies, controls, processes, and standards
• Own and drive data quality metrics, monitoring, and reporting, ensuring measurable improvements
• Act as the Microsoft Purview subject matter expert, supporting the data governance team and associated data roles
• Provide governance oversight across data domains, ensuring alignment with organisational and regulatory requirements
• Engage with senior stakeholders to embed governance principles and improve data maturity
• Support governance forums, decision‑making, and assurance activities

Essential Skills & Experience (Lead Criteria)

• Strong background in designing and maintaining data management and data governance frameworks, including policies, controls, processes, and standards
• Strong understanding of data quality metrics, controls, and reporting
• Extensive hands‑on experience with Microsoft Purview, with the ability to act as the Purview expert and advisor
• Proven experience operating at senior manager level within large or regulated organisations
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Nice to Have

• Experience in public sector or highly regulated environments
• Knowledge of data ownership, stewardship models, and enterprise data operating models
