Overview

Work as part of our fast-paced, autonomous and supportive team at HMP Manchester.

We are looking for a qualified mental health nurse with experience of working with adults in a mental health setting to join our in‑reach team at HMP Manchester. It will be advantageous if you have previous experience of forensic settings, the community as a CPN or have a keen interest in working in these areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support prisoners with complex mental health needs within a prison environment.
  • Manage caseload of prisoners ensuring high standards of care are maintained.
  • Support HMPPS colleagues with risk management with the establishment.
  • Provide nursing care as part of a passionate multi‑disciplinary team supporting prisoners with a spectrum of mental health issues, including those experiencing mental health crises.
  • Participate actively in the diverse multi‑cultural caseload within the prison.
  • Use the nursing process to sign‑post, refer and discharge to other agencies and teams.
  • Work over 7 days, including bank holidays.
  • Work in a high secure environment, supported by security checking procedure (Counter Terrorism Clearance).
Qualifications
  • Qualified mental health nurse.
  • Experience working with adults in a mental health setting.
  • Previous experience of forensic settings or community work as a CPN is advantageous.
  • Interest in working in forensic and community mental health areas.
  • Capability to work in a high secure environment (security checking procedure support).
