Senior Construction Manager - Hospital

Remuneration: £65,000 - £70,000 p/a plus package inc. car allowance, private medical insurance & more

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Construction Manager to join a Tier 1 main contractor delivering complex healthcare projects in operational hospitals. This is a leadership role for a hands‑on professional who thrives on high-profile, challenging projects, with the authority to drive results, manage risk, and ensure safe, high-quality delivery within live clinical environments. You will be responsible for leading multidisciplinary site teams, ensuring works integrate smoothly with ongoing hospital operations, and intervening decisively where performance, safety, or programme outcomes require improvement.

This role is perfect for a results driven construction professional who will command respect across contractors, consultants, and clinical stakeholders.

Summary of your role

• Lead delivery of live hospital construction projects, maintaining control over programme, sequencing, and site operations.
• Plan and coordinate works to protect patients, staff, and hospital services, ensuring safe access, segregation, and logistics.
• Hold site leadership teams accountable for outcomes, intervening directly when performance, quality, or safety standards are at risk.
• Apply construction expertise to solve complex sequencing, buildability, and multidisciplinary interface challenges.
• Manage and challenge subcontractor performance, ensuring competent, efficient, and compliant delivery in clinical environments.
• Maintain full visibility of site commercial and programme performance, escalating risks promptly.
• Drive quality and safety, correcting non-conformance decisively and embedding high standards across all teams.
• Ensure temporary works, plant, inspections, and safety compliance meet high standards.
• Act as a visible leader on site, promoting a culture of accountability, safety, and professional excellence.

About you

• Degree‑qualified in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Proven experience leading healthcare construction projects within live hospital environments, ideally for a Tier 1 main contractor.
• Valid CSCS, SMSTS, IOSH/NEBOSH and First Aid at Work.
• Extensive knowledge of hospital operational requirements, stakeholder management, and project delivery.
• Delivery‑driven, decisive, and able to lead large multidisciplinary teams under pressure.
• Previous or current BPSS clearance.
