Overview
Location: Site based - North Somerset. 5 Days per week (30% On-Site Based - 70% Office). Rotas available: 10-4, 11-3 & 12-2. 07:30 - 17:30 (Day Shift Hours subject to change as required). Weekend working, back shift or night shift may be necessary, as required and by agreement. Status: Contract (renewable). INSIDE IR352.
Morson Talent is working with a major player in the Energy Sector who have an immediate requirement for an M&E Senior Construction Delivery Manager (SCDM), to join their site-based team in North Somerset. This is a unique opportunity to be involved with one of Europe’s largest infrastructure construction projects, as it transitions from civils scope to the start of commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Accountability for a designated programme of works, including the delivery, coordination, and management of all construction/installation works undertaken within the programme.
- Surveillance, logistics, schedule performance, planning and implementation in collaboration with the site-wide logistics team.
- Project management, reporting (internal and external), monitoring and close out of authorities’ obligations and conditions, client liaison, stakeholder management.
- Staff management and T1 Contractor management.
- Report to the Area Construction Lead (ACL) and be supported by the Construction Delivery Lead (CDL).
- Collaborate with ACL, CDM and the Delivery Team to plan, coordinate, and implement a programme of mechanical, electrical and HVAC works and manage interfaces between adjoining programmes.
- Act as a staunch advocate of the Project Safety culture and embed this approach in all processes and activities; lead by example and suggest enhancements to policies, procedures, and protocols to achieve safety, environmental, quality standards and schedule milestones.
- Manage a team that will grow to in excess of 20 personnel.
- Periodically, on a rota, undertake the role of "Duty Construction Manager". Full training will be provided.
- Balance site presence (approx. 30%) with office work (approx. 70%), including leading meetings, producing reports, and managing the team; the ratio is subject to change with circumstances.
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant Degree (or equivalent) in Mechanical & Electrical Engineering or Construction.
- Considerable experience in delivering large M&E complex projects; Nuclear experience is advantageous but can be offset by demonstrable M&E/Construction experience.
- Working understanding of CDM Regulations obligations.
- Experience in strategic planning of site set up, construction sequencing, recovery plans and resource allocation.
- Good working knowledge of commercial principles affecting construction matters.
- Ability to produce informative, concise reports; strong organisational and communication skills.
- Able to deliver results under pressure; ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
- NEBOSH, SMSTS or IOSH qualification holder.
