Overview

Role Overview: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Underwriter to lead the expansion of a profitable portfolio while maintaining strong relationships with insurers and brokers. This role involves underwriting responsibilities and business development with a focus on Property, Casualty, and Development lines.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and sustain special relationships with existing brokers and retail customers, while targeting new brokers through effective marketing of current products
• Ensure professional service delivery of new business and renewals to meet company income targets in line with regulatory requirements and internal procedures
• Assist in converting renewals and new business opportunities
• Collaborate on actions involving brokers, policyholders, and capacity providers
• Share expertise with fellow team members and provide support where necessary
• Resolve enquiries, credit control issues, and problems efficiently to foster positive broker relationships
• Seek and respond to customer feedback proactively
• Mitigate and address conflicts of interest effectively
• Support business unit key performance indicators and targets as directed
• Comply with regulatory requirements, including the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, FCA regulations, and internal company policies

Qualifications and Skills

• Proven track record in underwriting with expertise in Property, Casualty, and Development lines
• Strong relationship management skills to build and maintain effective partnerships with brokers and retail customers
• Proficient in using electronic file management systems (e.g., Acturis/SchemeServe)
• Knowledge of regulatory frameworks, including FCA Code of Conduct (COCON)
