Overview

Senior Commercial Manager

Salary: GBP60-70K + Car Allowance

Glenelly Infrastructure Solutions have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager to join our Power & Civils Distribution business based in Scotland. Glenelly Infrastructure Solutions work with Scottish Power Energy Networks to deliver electrical infrastructure projects to maintain and modernise the energy network across Scotland. Our offices are in Kilmarnock and Livingston; this Commercial Manager role can be based in either, though travel between locations and other sites may be required.

Responsibilities
  • Commercial Management: Develop and implement commercial strategies to ensure project profitability and risk mitigation.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and company requirements.
  • Monitor and manage budgets, cash flow, and financial forecasting for projects.
  • Conduct regular financial performance reviews and provide reports to senior management.
  • Contractual Compliance: Ensure adherence to contractual obligations and provide guidance on contract interpretation and disputes.
  • Negotiate variations, extensions, and claims in line with project and company requirements.
  • Manage all commercial documentation, including payment applications, valuations, and change management records.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as the primary commercial point of contact for clients, ensuring strong and positive relationships.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and operational teams to align commercial objectives with project delivery.
  • Lead commercial discussions with stakeholders, presenting clear and concise information.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and manage junior commercial staff, providing training and development opportunities.
Qualifications

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Commercial Manager within the electrical connections, utilities, or related construction/engineering sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of contracts such as NEC, JCT, or FIDI.
  • Experience in identifying opportunities for new business and managing the tendering process.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills with a commercial mindset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial management software.

Desirable:

  • Professional qualifications such as MRICS, MCIPS, or a degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related field.
  • Experience in electrical generation, utilities, or infrastructure projects.
  • Familiarity with utility regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements.
