Job description
Overview

Senior Clinical Research Fellow in Epilepsy and EEG. 12 months (Fixed Term 1 year) - Part time - 30 hours per week. This clinical research fellowship is intended to allow an experienced neurology/neurophysiology trainee to obtain experience, both academically and clinically, over a one-year period in Epilepsy and EEG. This post will provide experience to allow a successful fellow to offer himself/herself for future appointments to consultant positions, with an academic interest in Epilepsy and/or EEG.

Responsibilities
  • Identify and include patients to clinical research studies adopted to national portfolio and registered with CRN leading to peer reviewed publications and international presentations; according to protocols approved by the Research Ethics Committee, and according to the principles of Good Clinical Practice
  • Collecting and performing analysis in research data and writing manuscripts for scientific publications in peer reviewed journals
  • Leading or contributing in audits and service evaluation activities
  • Contributing to academic activities as well as clinical duties with training in the department as appropriate.
  • Reporting outpatient adult and children EEGs
  • Taking the clinical history and reporting inpatient presurgical or diagnostic scalp video-EEG telemetries
  • Taking the clinical history and reporting home video telemetries
  • Attending and presenting cases in the weekly multidisciplinary team epilepsy surgery meeting
  • Attending complex epilepsy or other specialist epilepsy clinics
  • Developing own research interests
  • Any other duties appropriate to the grade as directed by the supervisor
