Job description
Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Clinical Nurse Manager to lead and oversee the clinical delivery of our complex care services across London. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality, person-centred care for clients with complex clinical needs, while providing strong leadership, clinical governance, and support to nurses and care teams in the community.

This is a senior, hands‑on role suited to a confident clinician with extensive experience in complex care, community nursing, and clinical leadership.

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership & Governance
  • Provide senior clinical leadership across all complex care packages.
  • Ensure care delivery complies with CQC, NMC, and internal clinical governance standards.
  • Lead on clinical risk management, incident investigations, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Oversee and maintain high standards of clinical documentation, care plans, and assessments.
  • Support the Registered Manager with clinical oversight and regulatory compliance.
Client & Package Management
  • Conduct and oversee complex clinical assessments (including tracheostomy, ventilation, PEG, epilepsy, spinal injury, and neurological conditions).
  • Review and approve care plans and risk assessments for complex packages.
  • Act as clinical escalation point for clients, families, and commissioners.
  • Support mobilisation of new care packages and ensure safe staffing models are in place.
Staff Management & Development
  • Line‑manage Clinical Nurse Specialists / Community Nurses where applicable.
  • Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and competency sign‑off for nurses and carers.
  • Lead and support clinical training programmes, including tracheostomy and complex care competencies.
  • Support recruitment by contributing to clinical interviews and suitability assessments.
Quality Assurance & Improvement
  • Carry out clinical audits and spot checks across care packages.
  • Monitor clinical KPIs (e.g. incidents, competencies, supervision compliance) and drive continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to policy development and clinical best practice updates.
Multi‑Disciplinary & Stakeholder Working
  • Work collaboratively with commissioners, CHC teams, MDTs, and external healthcare professionals.
  • Represent the service in clinical reviews, safeguarding meetings, and complex case discussions.
Person Specification
Essential
  • Registered Nurse (Adult) – NMC registered.
  • Significant experience in complex care / community nursing
  • Strong clinical knowledge of tracheostomy care, ventilation, PEG, epilepsy, and neurological conditions.
  • Proven experience in clinical leadership or management.
  • Excellent understanding of CQC standards and clinical governance.
  • Confident decision‑maker with strong risk management skills.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel across London.
Desirable
  • Experience in senior management or deputy clinical lead roles.
  • Experience working with CHC‑funded packages.
  • Teaching, mentoring, or practice assessor qualification.
  • Previous involvement in service development or growth.
