Overview

The Royal Free Hospital Intensive Care Department is looking for a motivated Senior Clinical Fellow. We would welcome candidates who have at least two years of accredited core medical or an aesthetic training to the level of CT2 or equivalent. Candidates will be expected to have passed the MRCP examination or the Primary FRCA. Applicants should be able to demonstrate an interest in medical education and previous experience in intensive care medicine is essential.

Core Candidates

• ICM or Anesthetic Trainees looking to take time out of programme
• Post CCT Trainees looking to develop their experience in ICU

Qualifications

• At least two years accredited core medical or aesthetic training to the level of CT2 or equivalent.
• Passed the MRCP examination or the Primary FRCA.
• Demonstrated interest in medical education.
• Previous experience in intensive care medicine is essential.

Responsibilities

• Work in close collaboration with the Infection Control Team.
• Ensure that monitoring of clinical practice is undertaken at the agreed frequency.
• Ensure that ward environments are cleaned and maintained to the highest standards; ensuring that shortfalls are rectified or escalated as necessary.
• Ensure that all relevant monitoring data and issues are provided to the Directorate’s Governance structures.
• Take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and other persons who may be affected by their actions or omissions at work.
• Co‑operate with the employer in ensuring that all statutory and other requirements are complied with.

Department Context

The Royal Free Hospital has a total complement of 50 Critical Care beds (mixed level 2 and level 3), including an 8‑bed Post‑Anesthetic Care Unit, a 12‑bed Enhanced Perioperative Care Unit and an 11‑bed liver critical care unit. All medical and surgical specialties, with exception of neurosurgery, cardiothoracic surgery and ECMO are covered. The renal unit provides services for the whole of the North Central sector. Tertiary specialist services include liver transplantation, hepatobiliary (HPB), plastic, colorectal and vascular surgery, and infectious diseases. We admit approximately 2800 patients each year and senior medical cover is provided by 24 Consultants who provide a 24‑hour cover worked in blocks to provide continuity of care. Dr. Jennifer Price is the Clinical Service Lead for Critical Care.
