Kennedys' Claims Handling team is one of the leading, most experienced claims handling teams in the UK, Ireland and internationally. Our team, based in Taunton, Bristol, London and Ireland handle claims on behalf of major international insurers, brokers, managing general agents and insurer -led schemes. We deal with thousands of notifications and our claims handlers provide pro‑active, responsive, and cost‑effective claims services, driven by a desire to provide outstanding client service.

Responsibilities
  • Claims Handling of professional indemnity in accordance with Kennedys guidelines, advising on coverage and potential to impact Kennedys client's and recommending strategy to bring them to a timely and effective resolution to ensure favourable outcomes;
  • Preparing detailed technical referrals including coverage and reserving recommendations for Kennedys Clients' and their Capacity;
  • Instructing and monitoring service suppliers, including external legal counsel, panel firms and adjusters and controlling expenditure;
  • Providing support to Kennedys Client's Underwriters including advising on claims related information, updating on trends, attending claims review meetings as required;
  • Ensuring full compliance with all Kennedys service standards and ensuring that Claims Handling is conducted with regard to the relevant regulatory compliance;
  • Relationship building, developing Kennedys market recognition and promoting the Claims Team (including participation in industry conferences/committees, by way of attendance or presentation, market meetings, meetings with brokers and insureds);
  • Assisting in the mentoring, training and development of Assistant Claims Handlers and Technicians;
  • Actively participating in and contributing improvements to the claims processes and systems whilst promoting best practice and reduce the level of non-value added tasks undertaken by Claims Handlers
Required experience
  • A good track record in handling professional indemnity and directors' and officers' claims;
  • Ability to understand and apply regulatory and legal requirements
  • Appropriate technical expertise and analytical skills;
  • Coverage knowledge with ability to make own determination/challenge lawyers;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions;
  • Strong team player who identifies and proposes solutions to problems;
  • Ability to develop excellent working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders;
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and ECF.
