Job description

Senior Civil/Structural Engineer (Project Manager)

65,000 - 85,000 + Progression + Training + Company Benefits
Basingstoke, Hampshire

Are you a Civil/Structural Engineer with consultancy experience looking to take the next step into project leadership with an award-winning multidisciplinary consultancy? Do you want to join a close-knit, growing team where you'll deliver major infrastructure projects, mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in the future growth of the business?

On offer is the opportunity to join a highly respected consultancy in the critical infrastructure sector. With a proven track record delivering projects for some of the UK's largest and most well-known transport operators, they are continuing to expand with a strong pipeline of projects, backed by ambitious growth plans and a clear long-term vision.

As a Senior Civil/Structural Engineer, you will lead on project delivery, working alongside Directors and Principal Engineers. You'll manage client relationships, oversee design, reports and specifications, and ensure projects are delivered safely, on time and to budget. You'll also mentor and guide graduates and junior staff, undertake site inspections, and work across multiple disciplines including architecture, track, M&E, and signalling. This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the chance to develop into a Chartered Engineer and, longer term, to take on CRE/CEM responsibilities with Network Rail and other key clients.

This role would suit a Chartered (or near-Chartered) Civil/Structural Engineer looking to progress in project leadership, join a friendly and flexible consultancy, and contribute to the successful delivery of nationally significant infrastructure schemes.

The Role
  • Lead delivery of civil/structural design projects (bridges, stations, depots, rail platforms, drainage, car parks).
  • Manage client relationships, attend and chair meetings, and produce reports and specifications.
  • Supervise, mentor and support junior engineers and technicians.
  • Oversee site inspections, surveys, and testing/commissioning activities.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety, quality, and environmental policies.
  • Work closely with Directors on financial control, resourcing, and business development.
The Person
  • Chartered or near-Chartered Civil/Structural Engineer (MICE/MIStructE or working towards).
  • 3+ years' consultancy experience in civil/structural design (rail, highways, or buildings).
  • Proficient in AutoCAD/MicroStation; BIM experience desirable.
  • Strong technical knowledge across Eurocodes and UK design standards.
  • Experienced in report writing, specifications, and project delivery.
  • Happy to travel and work flexible hours, including night shifts when required.
  • Based local to Basingstoke, Hampshire.
